Renting a villa in the Stockholm archipelago or Swedish mountains isn't the same as booking a hotel. The experience offers more space, more privacy, and more control over how you spend your time — but it also benefits from a bit of planning.
The archipelago's high season runs from late June through early August, with midsummer being the most sought-after period. Properties with private docks, saunas, and waterfront access tend to book months in advance — sometimes a full year for returning guests. If you have specific dates or a particular villa in mind, secure it early.
Some villas are reachable by car within 30-40 minutes of Stockholm. Others require a combination of car, ferry, and private boat. The most secluded properties — those on car-free islands or deep in nature reserves — offer unmatched privacy but require more logistical coordination. Check access details before booking, especially if traveling with young children or older family members.
Most of our guests use at least one or two additional services during their stay. The most popular options:
Private boat at your dock — Having a boat moored at your private dock gives you the freedom to explore surrounding islands, visit waterfront restaurants, or take spontaneous trips to Vaxholm or Stockholm. Boats can be arranged in advance with all necessary equipment included.
Private chef for select evenings — Rather than cooking every night, many guests bring in a chef for a few dinners during their stay. The chef handles shopping, preparation, and cleanup, turning a regular evening into a proper occasion without the need to leave the property.
Every-second-day cleaning — For those who want the villa to feel more like a hotel, housekeeping can be arranged mid-stay. Fresh linens, restocked amenities, and a thorough clean keep the space feeling effortless.
24-hour house butler — For extended stays or larger groups, a dedicated butler manages everything from meal preparation and service to coordinating boats, stocking the kitchen, and handling any requests that arise. This transforms the experience entirely, allowing guests to focus purely on enjoying the property.
Our friends — We're well connected to the region's best food and wine scene, as well as activities worth your time. Whether it's securing a table at a sought-after restaurant, arranging a private wine tasting, or booking a guided nature excursion, use us. That's what we're here for.
Arriving to a fully stocked kitchen — fresh bread, coffee, breakfast essentials, wine — eliminates the need to immediately search for a grocery store. Our concierge team can arrange this in advance based on your preferences.
Swedish summers are reliably beautiful, with warm temperatures and long evenings that make outdoor living a genuine pleasure. June, July, and August are peak season, with ideal conditions for swimming, sailing, and alfresco dining — and with daylight stretching well into the evening, you get far more out of every day than almost anywhere else in Europe. May and September are also well worth considering, typically offering pleasant warmth, fewer crowds, and a quieter, more relaxed pace. Most villas include saunas, fireplaces, and covered outdoor areas so you can make the most of the season whatever the weather brings — but the truth is that a Swedish summer at its best is simply hard to beat.
The archipelago and mountain regions are fragile environments. Many properties sit within nature reserves or on islands with limited infrastructure. Guests should be mindful of waste, water usage, and noise, particularly in areas where neighbors or wildlife are nearby.
Every property is different. Some have motorboats included; others require rentals. Some are equipped with SUPs and kayaks; others aren't. If there's something specific you need or want to know, ask before booking. The goal is to match the right property to the right guest — not to convince someone to stay somewhere that won't suit them.
Renting a villa well means understanding what you're looking for and planning accordingly. The reward is a stay that feels entirely your own.
