Chalet Pinecrest is located in the heart of Åre, directly beside the main lift system with ski-in ski-out access. The village's restaurants, boutiques, and nightlife are a short walk away — no car required. The surrounding terrain offers world-class alpine skiing, backcountry touring, cross-country tracks, and year-round mountain activities. Åre Östersund Airport is approximately one hour by car.

Scandinavia's largest ski resort and Sweden's most celebrated mountain destination. The skiing is spread across three connected areas — Åre, Björnen and Duved — with 89 slopes, 47 lifts, and a vertical drop of just under 900 metres from the top of Åreskutan down to the valley. The terrain covers all levels, from wide, gentle greens in Björnen suited to families and beginners, through long cruising blues and reds, to steep blacks and the World Championship course that has hosted three Alpine World Championships, most recently in 2019. Off-piste is accessible and varied. The village at the base has around 50 restaurants, lively après-ski, and an atmosphere unlike anything else in Sweden. The season typically runs from late November through to late April, with the spring months offering long daylight hours and good snow conditions. Reachable by direct train from Stockholm in around five hours.

One of the most singular dining experiences in Sweden, and the kind of place that is genuinely difficult to compare to anything else. Chef and hunter Fredrik Karlsson runs an intimate tasting menu restaurant from his home in the forest outside Duved, serving around 13 guests per sitting. The menu is built entirely around what Fredrik hunts, catches, and forages from the surrounding landscape: char and trout from the nearby waters, moose, grouse, and game from the mountain terrain, mushrooms and berries from the forest. Sommelier Pernilla manages the wine pairings, which are carefully considered and include non-alcoholic alternatives. The food is listed in the White Guide, and the restaurant carries a 5.0 rating across review platforms. Book well in advance. The experience alone is worth a trip to Åre.

For those who prefer their mountains at a quieter pace, the Cross-Country Arena in Björnen is one of the best-positioned in Sweden. The trails run through sheltered forest terrain, with mostly gentle undulating terrain that is approachable for all levels and noticeably snow-secure due to the protected tree cover. Trails are prepared for both classic and skate skiing, illuminated until 10pm, and connected by ski bus to central Åre and Duved — making it easy to combine a morning on the alpine slopes with an afternoon on the cross-country tracks. A warming hut, waxing cabin, and equipment rental are all on site. For those who want to push further, connecting trails reach out towards Ullådalen and, eventually, all the way around Åreskutan.

The Åre outpost of the well-regarded Stockholm concept, Asian Post Office sits in the centre of Åre village and brings a different energy to the mountain restaurant scene. The format is sharing plates, with a menu that moves across Asia without anchoring to any single cuisine: bao buns, popcorn shrimp, noodles, and a kitchen that is clearly more interested in flavour than convention. The bar is taken seriously, and the Thai Basil cocktail has become something of a signature. It is the kind of place that works well after a day on the slopes when you want something lively rather than another mountain classic. Consistently rated among the top three restaurants in Åre, and one of those spots you tend to return to during the week.

The spa at Copperhill Mountain Lodge has been recognised as one of the best in Europe, and it earns the description. Set at 730 metres above sea level in a design hotel built almost entirely of wood, it offers indoor and outdoor heated pools, multiple saunas — including one with a snow bath — relaxation areas, and a full menu of treatments from massages to facials. The outdoor pool looks directly out over Åreskutan and the Jämtland mountains, and the combination of warm water and open mountain air is hard to replicate. Day visitors are welcome with pre-booked admission, making it an ideal afternoon activity whether you are staying at the hotel or not. The private spa area can also be reserved for exclusive group use.
